Virgin Mary Consoles Eve

This painting is so consoling, I just have to share it again since Advent brings us closer and closer to the precious moment of our Savior’s birth.  He comes to save Fallen Man, and with such a gentle hand.

    • Genesis 3:15 Short answer: Mary cooperated in bringing forth Christ Jesus in the Incarnation. Jesus the Savior of our race crushed the head of the serpent when He died for our sins on the Cross and His heart was pierced on the Cross after His death pouring forth Blood and water. Since the 1st century the Church has seen Mary and the Church in the image of the Woman. Jesus calls her “Women” as He begins and ends His ministry and Simeon speaks of her heart that will also be pierced. (Luke 2:34b-35). Also the Douay-Rheims translation read, “I will put enmities between thee and the woman, and thy seed and her seed: she shall crush thy head, and thou shalt lie in wait for her heel.” However, the New American uses the masculine pronoun in its translation.
