VATICAN Pope warns against everyday temptation to "flee from God " – Asia News.

“I ask myself and I ask you : Do you let God write your life story or do you want to write it yourselves? And this tells us about docility : are obedient to the Word of God? ‘ Yes , I want to be docile ! ‘ . But you, do you have ability to listen , to hear it ? Do you have the ability to find the Word of God in your every day life, or are your ideas what keep you going? Or do you allow yourself to be surprised by what the Lord has to say to you? “

O loving Mother Mary,
Undoer of Knots,
Look upon the jumble of my life,
And work the wonder
Graced by God to thee

It is said that He Who Is
Writes straight
With crooked lines.
May He Who is the Author of Life,
And Creator
Of my all too brief story,
Allow you to edit these pages.
Untangle the chaos
With your sweet simplicity.

Place Your Child upon my breast;
So may the beating of His heart
Set the rhythm of mine,
That it be in tune
With the eternal chorus,
Singing My God’s praises,
All for the glory
Of He of Whom the angels
Serenade in a perpetual,
“Holy, Holy, Holy! ”

Question of the week:  Have you ever tried the Liturgy of the Hours (Divine Office)? Why or why not, and, if so, is it something you pray regularly?

I’ve been praying the Invitatory, Office of Readings, Evening and / or Night Prayer most days for years, though I have had more success doing it thoughtfully and enjoying it since I discovered: DivineOffice.org.  They provide a beautiful community prayer experience for me.  I love not having to spend frustrating effort finding and flipping pages, though I probably merited time off purgatory for all those efforts in years past, Then I just managed Morning Prayer.

Hearing the marvellous readers,prayers and their heartfelt readings helps me quickly get into the rhythm of this holy practice.

I’ve been away so all I could manage was a re-post I hope you’ll like:

Lift me to Your shoulder;
Carry me, henceforth.
I can see all things in a new way,
From my throne above the world.
Your Shepherd’s crook in view,
A sign of assurance,
Calming the sea, defeating the flesh,
Vanquishing the Foe.
Perched in Paradise,
I ride above the storm.
Battles won by stillness,
Flames quenched by Water from the Rock.
Carrying the one You love,
Bearing Your burden,
Loving Your labor,
Loving me.
I see the wound of Your Cross.
I see Blood,and Bone,
And I see me,
Carved in Your bruised
And beaten flesh,

Lifted to Your shoulder,
You carry me,
Onward and upward,
Unto greater heights,
Cross and throne,
One in God alone.

Prayers of St. Gertrude on leaving Church and Taking Holy Water

O MOST pitiful Jesus, I give thee thanks for every good gift which Thou hast bestowed on me in this church. And now that I am about to leave it, I offer Thee, in union with Thine Own most perfect prayers, all the prayers and other devotions which I have performed therein; beseeching Thee that Thou wouldst deign to ennoble and perfect them in Thy Divine Heart, to unite them with every holy intention and every feeling of devotion which Thou hast ever elicited from any heart of man, and to offer them to God the Father, for all my negligences and omissions, as a grateful satisfaction and a most acceptable sacrifice: and I implore Thee to grant me that most holy blessing which Thou gavest to Thine Apostles when Thou didst ascend into Heaven, so that by its force and efficacy I may be enabled to persevere in Thy grace, and to serve Thee faithfully ever more. Amen.

TAKING HOLY WATER

By the sprinkling of Thy Precious Blood, O Lord Jesus Christ, and by the merit of Thy Passion, wash me from every stain, and cleanse me from all sin. In the Name of the Father, etc.
