Work of Love

Jesus, make every heart
Thy tabernacle,
A holy space,
An ark of covenant,
A Mercy seat,
That You may come
And take repose.

Jesus, come!
Make the praying heart Thy sanctuary,
That angels may alight,
And carry heavenward our prayer.
May they ring round the soul who yearns
To console Thee, our suffering God,
Who succoured mercy,
Dying on the Tree.

Rest on these blessed souls,
Find hallowed hearts made like thy own,
Ciborium for Thy Holy Body,
Chalice to cup Thy Blood,
And the loveliness of priestly hands
To hold the Christ aloft,
To smile upon His Inheritance,
A world in dire need.

With the Angelic Spirits,
We sing to the Bread of angels,
Ever present on the altar,
“Come Lord Jesus”,
Friend and companion
Light and Bridegroom,
All in all.

Come to repentant hearts,
Transform sinner to saint,
Cleanse the temple of our bodies
To make ready hallowed hearts,
Other Christs,
Alive with and for
The Spirit of the living God.
