New Song

Love and praise hold hands.
Happy hearts rejoice.
Song rises from the multitude,
As lives lived in faith believing.

The Just sing with their being,
Resplendent and resounding love.
Praise embodied in saintly flesh.

New song, New Day,
New creation,
In harmony with Heaven
A symphony of faithful, forgiven witness.

Alleluia.

Top 10 Unpleasant, Daily Experiences You Can Make More Enjoyable

When you can’t solve life’s big problems, solve the small ones. Here are 10 everyday experiences that are no fun, and how to make them a bit more enjoyable.

10. Make the Most of Your Long Commute

Top 10 Unpleasant, Daily Experiences You Can Make More Enjoyable

Driving to work can seem like hours stolen from your life, every single day. But it doesn’t have to be all bad. Make it a bit more productive and fun with some audiobooks or brain-boosting podcasts. Sit up straight and do some “desk exercises” to keep yourself from getting cramped. Practice a little mindfulness. And, most importantly, test different routes to keep things interesting (and find the fastest way there).

How Can I Make My Commute Suck Less?

Dear Lifehacker, I have a long commute. Traffic makes it much longer. It’s incredibly boring… Read more

9. Turn Boring Small Talk Into a Real Conversation

Top 10 Unpleasant, Daily Experiences You Can Make More Enjoyable

Nobody likes small talk—it’s boring, awkward, and plays out the same way every time. “Nice weather we’re having…what do you do for a living? Oh, verrrry interesting…” But it’s not hard to take that small talk and turn it into a real conversation. For example, when someone asks you how you’re doing, respond with a small detail instead of just “good”. Arm yourself with relevant topics to the event or situation at hand. And, when in doubt, fall back on the FORD technique: Ask them questions about their family, occupation, recreation, and dreams. Chances are, you’ll find something you have in common.

How Can I Turn Small Talk Into a Conversation?

Dear Lifehacker, I hate small talk. I never know how in-depth I should go into a conversation and… Read more

So God Made a Liberal

Maybe it wasn’t God, afterall?

BLACK REDNECKS ~ Thomas Sowell ~ AUDIOBOOK

Argument from Size

When we step on an ant,

An ant smaller than a fetus,

We acknowledge killing an ant.

We may not fret,

After-all, it’s an ant!

Haven’t we the right to kill an ant?

We do confess, we killed an ant,

Though it be smaller than a fetus.

When a mother, a nurse,

A doctor, a bio-scientist,

Or technician trained in the art,

When “we the people, a nation,

Cut short the life of a fetus,

All deny the killing.

"It’s too small to matter."

Do we really believe,

We are doing good?

Have we a care beyond convenience and profit?

Do we have the right?

Are we in the right?

How big does Truth have to be?

Haunting Silence

Time to name the monster
Who stirs at night.
Who lives within
To hide our sin.

Time to make room,
In memory’s caverns
Rather than banish
What simply won’t vanish.

You had a choice once
That gave birth to phantoms
Making you live your choice
Silencing not its voice.

The monster lives and grows
Curled and caved in your heart
When the Light goes out
It walks about.

Its countenance a disfigurement,
Frightful yet your own.
Its dwelling through the years
Fraught with reticence and tears.

Has it no right
No place of rest?
When the day is done,
No place in the sun.

Most monsters are but part
Of our fallen selves
Standing in the way
Of each new day.

The way out
Is also within.
Give the chimera a name.
Acknowledge its claim.

Give the silence life
For the living,
For what you kill,
Haunts you still.

Time to embrace
And wrap the past in Mercy.
Give it a womb,
Instead of a tomb.
