ABBA WAITS

ABBA WAITS
While I wandered,
Wandered far,
Abba waits.
Winding roads and forests,
Miles and mountains,
Abba waits.
Husks and devolution,
Drunken prostitution,
All the while, Abba waits.
Humbled in revelation,
Plans of feeble protestation,
Still Abba waits.
Homeward, humbled,
Bowed and broken,
Eyes to the horizon, Abba waits
Heart aflame,
Running, embracing, gifting a son,
For from eternity, Abba waits

A VOTIVE HEART

A VOTIVE HEART

Sweet Savior, I give to Thee my heart.
Make it as Thine own,
That it may love those in the world,
And those, having past from its bounds,
Not ready to see the Father’s glory.
With my every breath,
I wait on Thee,
Pleading the perfection of my cherished loves.
Pray, lift the veils persisting to obscure Thy Beauty.
Let me be a living prayer,
A votive candle,
Burning on the altar of Thy Cross,
Whose smoke rises as incense
With Thy Resurrection from the dead.
I am a captive to Thy call upon my heart.
I draw each breath,
For those You give me in this life,
By blood, as friend, foe, neighbor, passing stranger,
And those, still alien, to Thy love,
All, whom the Father desires
For life in You and in Thy glory.

LORD OF THE TRUSTING

LORD OF THE TRUSTING
Lord of the Fallen,
Fallen from grace,
Fallen in misfortune,
Lord of the Forsaken,
Forsaken in favor,
Forsaken in worldly esteem,
Spread the corner of Your mantle over me.
Like a great bird,
Cover me with mighty wing,
Cloak me with warmth and security,
Like the eagle with its young
Castle me on high,
Feed me with morsels from your mouth.
Feather me in your splendid pinions.
Lord of the Trusting
Trusting in You
Trusting the Trinity
Lord of the Meek
Meek and humble
Meek and gentle of heart
Make Your Heart my eternal home.

BREATH OF GOD

BREATH OF GOD

O, Magnificent One,
O, Magnanimous One,
O, Adorable One,
In the splendor of Your Godhead,
You stoop to lift me.
As Father, You gently raise me,
To plant Your kiss.
You span the distance between us.
Your overcome the flesh, the world and Evil, itself,
In the humility of the Cross.
You paid the price of my son-ship.
Knowing Yourself from eternity,
Eternally begetting the Son.
You planned to make humanity holy
By the Spirit of Jesus, Your Only Son.
O, Magnificent One,
O, Magnanimous One,
O, Adorable One,
As You breathe forth Your Spirit,
I gasp and hold fast that Sacred Breath.

My Jesus

My Jesus

Jesus, Lover of my soul,
You are the Heart of me.

Jesus, Lover of my soul,
Pour out Your Mercy,

For my wretchedness,
Draws from the well of Your Passion.

Crucified God, Redeemer,
Water my sorrowful repentance.

I am that sinner,
Who begs Your Mercy.

I am the sinner,
Who calls from my bed of misery.

I call upon Your Blood.,
Your Sacred and Redeeming Blood.

Jesus, Lover of my precious soul,
You are the hallowed heart of me.
