As for me, I am a wife,a mother of two beautiful daughters, a Sinai nurse (NYC – 1962), a photographer, a writer /poet (in awe of God). Prayer and daily Mass feed me. Lioness  is my way of evangelizing, a persistent shout out for God.

Jesus, Haven of My Heart

Fully Human, Fully Alive! A Prayer

Question of the week:
Do you have any suggestions regarding the Rosary?
I have a heart for the Rosary but not always a head. I have to try pray away distractions but I know the effort but adds to the power and my sacrifice of time, effort, will and love.. This is my weapon, second to the Eucharist. I’m not even good at fingering the beads..I lose track, but muddle on. It calls for faith (surprise) and for me to remember my Mother asks for me to say it and promises what only heaven can give.

Jesus, Haven of My Heart

Jesus, I place myself
In the holy confines
Of Your Sacred Heart.
Heart of my heart,
Draw heaven to me.
Surround me with friends
Of Your choosing,
That my mind might be full
Of the conversation of saints.
The world is so much with me.
It is temptress and shallow.
I long for the deep
Of Your thoughts,
To speak peace and refuge
In my wilderness.
You are the haven of my soul,
The Paradise once lost,
But now given
With My daily Bread.
Exile holds no fear
For You surround me.
You are my consolation
And marrow of my bones,
Strength of my strength.
Your Holy Spirit comes to me
And turns my tears to laughter.
In a valley of vanity and pride,
Your Humanity and Humility
Take me by the hand and heart
To dwell within and be my home.

Fully Human, Fully Alive! A Prayer

When I worked NICU, I cared for a preemie that fit in my hand just like this. Though it was tiny, and it’s skin so thin I could see the veins that circulated its blood,  there was no doubt that this was a human being, young, out of the womb or in the womb, fully human, fully alive!

Anyone think its not a person?

Prayer for anyone considering abortion, or troubled by their pregnancy:

Lord of Life and Love

O Lord of Love and Life,
Bless me and Your child entrusted to my care and keeping.

Though the forces of Hell conspire against me,
You, O God, are for me,
And for my little one growing beneath my heart.

May the beating of our hearts proclaim You Holy,
And this life sacred to Your glory.

God is for us!
May no power on earth,
No friend, no relative, no worldly voice,
Or power from the Pit,
Persuade me otherwise.

O Lord of Love and Life
Bless us.

Holy See

I was looking at Your Heart,
Alight with rays,
Gushing from Your parted Breast.

I realized that heart was just like mine,
Human,
Yours aflame,
Shooting forth on wings of Holy Dove,
And mine,
Still learning how, what
And Who to love.

Love You are, and Love You give,
Bursting upon Time and Space, and Me,
And myriads akin to me,
Merely mortal, and yet more.

Heart rays, sacred emanations
Of Who You Are,
Enflame, to fire fleshly hearts
In Your Eternal Streams
Giving Your Life all
Who dare in hope
To welcome and adore.

Who but God could conceive
So great a good;
Your Heart is mine,
And mine is Thine
And I , at long-last, see.

Argument from Size

When we step on an ant,

An ant smaller than a fetus,

We acknowledge killing an ant.

We may not fret,

After-all, it’s an ant!

Haven’t we the right to kill an ant?

We do confess, we killed an ant,

Though it be smaller than a fetus.

When a mother, a nurse,

A doctor, a bio-scientist,

Or technician trained in the art,

When “we the people, a nation,

Cut short the life of a fetus,

All deny the killing.

"It’s too small to matter."

Do we really believe,

We are doing good?

Have we a care beyond convenience and profit?

Do we have the right?

Are we in the right?

How big does Truth have to be?
