American Anchor for Russian Station Quits on Air in Dramatic Fashion
News reporters in this country once had enormous clout. That was back when they were objective and could be trusted to at least provide both sides of the issues. From the muckrakers to the tabloid that first exposed the John Edwards cheating scandal, some journalists have not been afraid to go against the grain. Sadly, that is not the case in this country any longer.
Since 2008, when Barack Obama managed to gain a choke hold on the mainstream media, the American public has been lied to time and time again by once trusted major news sources. Throughout the years of this regime we’ve seen overt bullying tactics from the Obama and his minions against news organizations that seek to report the truth. The Administration wants to control the stories and the angles that are reported to the People. And when they cannot, they ridicule whole news organizations, they try to shame or embarrass individual reporters, or they ignore or banish individual reporters and news agencies in their entirety.
This morning I saw the report on an American newscaster who worked in the Washington, D.C., office of a Russian news agency. I have never heard of Liz Wahl or the station, Russia Today, but I have to give kudos to Miss Wahl. Here is the broadcast that probably has the Russian station and Vladimir Putin grinding their teeth.
This journalist stood up for her beliefs and put her own self-respect ahead of her career and well-being. Whether or not one agrees with her opinions about the actions of Putin in the Ukraine, it takes guts to disavow an employer with whom you have fundamental disagreements. Moreover, Wahl did not just bow out quietly and begin job hunting on the down low. Instead, she publicly expressed her disdain for the egregious breach of trust that the Russian-state-owned news agency has perpetrated on people all over the world. Was it unprofessional? Perhaps. But those few seconds of telling the truth in the heat of the moment spoke louder than anything she cold have ever written or spoken after the fact.
Bravo, Ms. Wahl. Maybe MSNBC or CNN could use your services. But wait, they also whitewash the truth and tow the Obama line. What does the Fox say?
Please keep this woman in your prayers

“Condemns Russian Actions in Crimea”
An anchor for the English language network RT — a Kremlin-controlled news outlet whose coverage on the crisis in Ukraine has been, er, selective — went off-script Tuesday morning and condemned Russia’s incursion into the Crimean peninsula.
At the end of her show, Abby Martin, host ofBreaking the Set, asserted her strong disagreement with Russia’s actions, which she explicitly called a “military occupation”:
“Before I wrap up the show, I wanted to say something from my heart about the ongoing political crisis in Ukraine, and Russia’s military occupation of Crimea. Just because I work here, for RT, doesn’t mean I don’t have editorial independence. And I can’t stress enough how strongly I am against any military intervention in sovereign nations’ affairs. What Russia did is wrong.”
Martin admitted she did not have an expert’s grasp on the history of Ukraine’s relations with Russia (perhaps a dangerous admission, as we’ll see below), but objected to military intervention in any and all cases.
“I admittedly don’t know as much as I should about Ukraine’s history or the cultural dynamics of the region, but what I do know is that military intervention is never the answer. And I will not sit here and apologize or defend military aggression.
[snip] “All we can do now is hope for a peaceful outcome for a terrible situation, and prevent another full-blown Cold War between multiple superpowers. Until then, I’ll keep telling the truth as I see it.”
Her reward? A free trip to the Crimean Peninsula. RT responded shortly after Martin’s missive
Thomas Sowell writes:
There is no sign that President Obama has impressed the Russians, the Iranians or the North Koreans, except by his rookie mistakes– and that is a dangerous way to impress dangerous people.
What did his televised overture to the Iranians accomplish, except to reassure them that he was not going to do a damn thing to stop them from getting a nuclear bomb? It is a mistake that can go ringing down the corridors of history.
Future generations who live in the shadow of that nuclear threat may wonder what we were thinking about, putting our lives– and theirs– in the hands of a rookie because we liked his style and symbolism?
Seeking deals with our adversaries, behind the backs of our allies? France did that at Munich back in 1938. They threw Czechoslovakia to the wolves and, less than two years later, Hitler gobbled up France anyway.
This year, President Obama’s attempt to make a backdoor deal with the Russians, behind the backs of the NATO countries, was not only rejected but made public by the Russians– a sign of contempt and a warning to our allies not to put too much trust in the United States.
The Anchoress had an encounter with Mystery. Seems the little children of Fatima, Jacinta and Francisco, now beatified by John Paul II, want to get the word out; the Rosary is our weapon!
Indeed, it is! If you remember, the apparitions at Fatima occurred immediately before the Bolshevik Revolution. Russia had little world power. No one saw it as a menace when the Blessed Virgin Mary gave us her prophetic message, that WW I would soon end but a far worse war would follow if our Lady’s warning was not heeded and Russia consecrated to her Immaculate Heart:
- You have seen hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace. The war is going to end: but if people do not cease offending God, a worse one will break out during the Pontificate of Pius XI. When you see a night illumined by an unknown light, know that this is the great sign given you by God that he is about to punish the world for its crimes, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred; the Holy Father will have much to suffer; various nations will be annihilated. In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, and she shall be converted, and a period of peace will be granted to the world.
The whole world is still at risk and in error. Those who faced down the enemies of Faith have clung to their rosaries. In Ukraine, blood and beads battled for the soul of that country. The Ukrainian Bishop of Lutsk, Markijam Trofimiak, wrote: A Monument to Heroism in Ukraine. He recounts:
Once at a symposium, I was asked: “Should it ever be decided to erect a monument in the Ukraine to the person who has made the greatest contribution to safeguarding the faith in this land, to whom would it be justly dedicated?”. I pondered awhile before answering. In a flash, the faces of well-known priests who survived the concentration camps, Soviet prisons and years of physical and moral terror passed before my eyes. The witness to faith of these priests surpasses what we are accustomed to call “heroism”. Although remembering their undeniable merits, I answered: “The monument would have to be dedicated to an elderly woman with the Rosary in her hands“.
